How To Reach

Padum is a remote town located in the Zanskar region of Ladakh and is accessible by road from Kargil, which is approximately 240 km away. The road journey to Padum from Kargil is considered to be one of the most scenic drives in the world, passing through rugged terrain, high-altitude passes, and stunning landscapes.

The road to Padum from Kargil is open only during the summer months, usually from June to September, due to heavy snowfall in the winter. The road is maintained by the Border Roads Organization (BRO) and is generally in good condition, although it can be rough and bumpy in some sections.

To reach Padum from Kargil, you can hire a taxi or take a shared taxi or bus from the Kargil bus stand. The journey takes approximately 8 to 10 hours, depending on road conditions and traffic.

Alternatively, you can also hire a private vehicle or take a shared taxi from Leh, the capital of Ladakh, which is approximately 450 km from Padum. The journey from Leh takes approximately 2 days, with an overnight stay in Kargil.

It is important to note that the road to Padum is remote and rugged, and travelers should be prepared for long journeys, unpredictable weather conditions, and limited facilities en route. It is advisable to carry sufficient food, water, warm clothing, and other essential supplies for the journey
